Constructed Landscape
PROJECT 1
experiencing landscape
For this project, we were divided into groups of 6 or 7. We were given one of the ten topics. We were then required to select two case studies (one local and one international) and present our description and understanding of the historical background, characteristics of the park, contextual study and the activities people commonly do. Besides that, we were also required to explain the landscape features and elements of the two sites. Those topics include:
a. National park
b. Community park
c. Neighbourhood park
d. Urban park
e. City park
f. Theme park
g. Linear park
h. Pocket park
i. State park
j. Metropolitan park
My group was given Urban Park. We named our group URBAIN. Our Local Case Study was TAMAN TASIK PERDANA while our international Case Study was Washington Park. We all divided the task and did research on both case studies. My group members were cooperative enough.
My group members excluding me are:
1. Teo Chiang Loong (Eric, our leader)
2. Law Zhi Chang
3. Joey Lau Xin Jun
4. Yip Xiao Jung
5. Loon Jing Wei

REFLECTION
Through this project, I learnt that parks are designed by landscape architects. This profession is very important as they are the ones who design of landscape. I also learnt that every parks have their unique characteristics and history. I believed parks had been globally prioritized. I find that this presentation has shown us how much we learn after this project. The research and teamwork pay up a lot.
Project 2
INDIVIDUAL WORK
We were required to produce a graphic journal consisting of a series of landscape elements like vegetation, natural elements and hardscape.
We were required to sketch:
a. Vegetation -> 10 plan views and 5 elevations of different kind of trees/palms/shrubs/groundcovers
b. Natural elements -> Plan views of rocks and waterways and elevations of the same chosen elements
c. Hardscape -> Plan views of 5 different types of pavings and 3 plan views and or elevations of building with roof shading/pergola/gazebo/fountain

GROUP WORK
For our group work, we were divided into groups of 6 or 7 . We were to choose a landed residence with a compound as a site and do a site survey. We chose Lim Xiu Qing's Semi-D house as we think it is the most suitable place for the site visit. It is located in Klang. It is near but is a distance away from the school compound. My GROUP members excluding me are:
1. Wong Cho Mun ( Our Leader)
2. Lim Xiu Qing
3. Tan Vin Nie
4. Yong Ai Yi
5. Yeoh Sin Yuen
6. Ho Zi Yan
We had to conduct a site inventory and analysis of the existing condition based on:
- Site Location and Context
- Topography
- Drainage
- Vegetation
- Microclimate
- Existing Structure
- Views
REFLECTION
I find that this project is quite challenging. It involves lots of team work and drawings. I am thankful that all my group members were encouragingly sporting and were able to carry the task given. Thank you to Ms Renee for giving us opinions in our project.
Final project
For the final project, we were required to use the previous floor plan and design a new and more suitable landscape for the compound. The stages required are as follows:
I had done my research and felt that a Modern English Garden is fairly suitable for the compound and residence. Therefore, i got the concept of an English Garden on the internet. Most example shows that an English garden has a pergola. To make my garden look more modern, I add an outdoor bar and fountain.

REFLECTION
After researching of what is suitable to be put in the garden, I find that the solid concept of a given landscape is very important. Without concept, our garden and lawn would look messy and out of place instead of a beautiful, well carry out garden. The drawings were really hard at first. My garden was a complete mess as there were full of designs exploding everywhere. I am thankful that Ms. Iffa was there to give us opinions and help us with our mistakes during the tutorial classes.
